Health & Wellness at Head Start

At Head Start, we believe that school readiness begins with good health.
We partner with families to keep every child healthy, safe, and ready to learn.

Health Screenings

To give children the best start, we provide:

• Vision and hearing checks

• Height and weight measurements

• Dental screenings

• Blood lead level screening (for children who need it)

These screenings help us catch concerns early and support your child’s growth and development.

Preventive Care

We help families make sure every child has:

• Health insurance

• A primary doctor and dentist

• Up-to-date well-child exams, dental visits, and immunizations
   

Bright Smiles Every Day

Children brush their teeth daily while at Head Start.
Each year, a dental hygienist visits classrooms to:

• Share fun oral health lessons

• Provide dental screenings

• Apply a protective fluoride varnish (with parent consent)
   

Health & Mental Health Advisory

Our Health and Mental Health Services Advisory Committee (HMHSAC) meets twice a year to review and improve health, mental health, and nutrition services.
Families and community members are always welcome to join and share ideas!
